In recent days, the construction site of the Lihe River Bridge on Provincial Highway 331 has been bustling with activity, as construction workers brave high temperatures to work overtime paving the bridge deck in a sprint toward closure. Provincial Highway 331 is the main corridor linking Zhongxiang urban area with major industrial towns such as Wenji Town, Linkuang Town, and Shuanghe Town.

The Lihe River Bridge is a key node project in the reconstruction and expansion of the Zhongxiang Wenji to Shuanghe section of Provincial Highway 331. It is being built to the standard of a two-way, four-lane Class I highway with a design speed of 80 km/h, with a total length of 1,040 meters and a width of 25 meters. The bridge has a total of 240 girders, of which 214 have been precast and 185 erected; the main span consists of 144 segments in total, of which 90 have been completed; and 520 meters of bridge deck paving has been finished. Half-width opening to traffic is planned for the end of September, with the entire line open to traffic by the end of this year.
