After 23 months of intense construction, all 16 tunnels on the Jiangxi key construction project—the Suichuan to Dayu Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the Suida Expressway)—have been fully holed through as of July 10.

The 127-kilometer Suida Expressway features 16 tunnels with a combined single-tube length of nearly 58 kilometers, including 4 extra-long tunnels (the longest at 4.93 kilometers) and 5 long tunnels.

According to the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transportation, as of now, the Suida Expressway project has completed a cumulative investment of 19.131 billion yuan. For physical works, 98.17% of subgrade excavation, 98.82% of subgrade filling, and 94.53% of slope greening have been completed; 85.68% of beam and slab erection has been finished; and 100% of tunnel bore excavation has been completed.

The Suida Expressway is an important component of the 9th vertical line among the "10 vertical, 10 horizontal, and 21 connecting" routes proposed in the "Revised Jiangxi Provincial Expressway Network Plan (2018-2035)."

The Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transportation stated that the construction of the Suida Expressway is of positive significance for opening up a major expressway corridor in southwestern Jiangxi, promoting high-quality development in the old revolutionary base area of Jiangxi, and connecting with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
