Recently, the north connecting line project of the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel has made significant progress. The bored pile construction of the JJSD-JJ1 section has been basically completed, and the construction progress of pile caps and pier columns has exceeded 90%.
The Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is located between the Jiangyin Bridge and the Taizhou Bridge. It is being built to a two-way, six-lane expressway standard and is currently the super-large-diameter tunnel with the largest cross-sectional diameter and the highest water pressure resistance in China. The project has a total length of 11.825 km, including a 6.4 km tunnel section and a 4.9 km river-crossing shield section. Once completed, the tunnel will greatly ease traffic pressure on the Jiangyin Bridge and is of major significance for improving the regional expressway network and promoting the cross-river integrated development of the Wuxi-Changzhou-Taizhou cluster.
The north connecting line of the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is an important supporting project of the tunnel, with a total length of 5.518 km. Its main line is entirely in bridge form, with a design of 864 bored piles, 112 pile caps, 464 pier columns, and 179 bent caps. At present, more than 90% of these construction tasks have been completed, laying a solid foundation for the smooth advancement of the entire tunnel project. The tunnel starts from Gongxin Highway in Jingjiang City in the north and ends at Furong Avenue in Jiangyin City in the south. It is expected to greatly improve regional traffic efficiency upon completion.
The construction of the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is not only an engineering project but also a comprehensive upgrade of the regional transportation network. Its completion will greatly ease traffic pressure on the Jiangyin Bridge, reduce congestion, and improve traffic efficiency. At the same time, the completion of the tunnel will also help further strengthen economic ties between the north and south banks of the Yangtze River and promote integrated development across the river. It can be foreseen that the completion of this tunnel will inject new vitality into local economic development.
