According to the Chongming District Information Office, on the evening of July 7, after six hours, the concreting of the last railway bent cap of the north approach bridge of the Chongqi Road-Rail Yangtze River Bridge was completed, marking the bridge's official transition from pier shaft construction to girder erection.

The Chongqi Road-Rail Yangtze River Bridge is the world's largest-span double-tower, double-cable-plane road-rail dual-purpose ballastless-track cable-stayed bridge. It is a double-deck road-rail bridge: the upper deck carries a Class I highway with six lanes in both directions at 100 km/h, and the lower deck carries a double-track high-speed railway at 350 km/h plus a double-track intercity railway at 250 km/h. Pier N10 of the north approach bridge adopts a double-deck frame structure. The lower railway pier is a constant-width portal-type hollow pier with a height of 29 m. The pier cap is 29.1 m wide transversely and 4.6 m wide longitudinally. The pier column has a hollow rectangular section with rounded corners, 8.6 m wide transversely and 4 m wide longitudinally. The bent cap support for this pour adopted a structural system of "corbels + distribution beams + trusses," with a total of 436 m³ of concrete poured. Embedded climbing cones were installed in the pier columns; after formwork removal, steel support corbels were welded to the embedded climbing cones, and distribution beams and trusses were erected on the corbels to pour the bent cap. The weight of the supports, formwork and the entire bent cap was transferred to the pier columns through the corbel brackets.

The Shanghai–Nanjing–Hefei High-Speed Railway is the eastern section of the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu High-Speed Railway and an important part of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network's Yangtze River corridor. It undertakes the transport of main network passenger flows along the Yangtze River corridor and part of the through passenger flows to Shanghai from the coastal and Beijing–Shanghai corridors. The Chongqi Road-Rail Yangtze River Bridge is a controlling node project of the entire line, and the concreting of the last railway bent cap of the bridge's north approach bridge is the "bugle call" for the project's rapid advance. In the follow-up, the project will further increase inputs of manpower, materials and machinery and equipment, fully set off a construction upsurge, and go all out to sprint toward the annual construction target.
