Recently, as the cutterhead of the first shield machine for Phase IV of the Hangzhou Metro slowly began to rotate on the Xingqiao Station–Century Avenue Station section of the Linping segment of Line 3 Phase II, the full-line shield tunneling stage was officially launched, and construction of the Linping segment of Hangzhou Metro Phase IV has also pressed the "fast-forward button."

It is understood that the Line 3 Phase II project has a total length of 7.5 kilometers and is constructed underground, with a total of 5 stations and 1 section ventilation shaft, namely Century Avenue Station, Linping Station, Renmin Avenue Station, Shijiadai Road Station, Xingguang Street Station, and the ventilation shaft in the Xingqiao Station (exclusive)–Century Avenue Station section.

The Xingqiao Station–Century Avenue Station section where this shield launch took place is about 2.74 kilometers long and will pass through multiple important nodes, including an existing elevated railway bridge, railway subgrade, rivers, the Wangmei Road Viaduct, and a tunnel box culvert. Relying on the shield machine's functions of excavation, support, and muck removal, the project will greatly improve construction efficiency.
