On the 8th, the Xuantian Lake Tunnel of the Chengdu-Chongqing Middle Line High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group, was successfully holed through. This is the first tunnel to be completed in Tongliang within the Chongqing section of the Chengdu-Chongqing Middle Line High-Speed Railway, marking that the project has entered a stage of accelerated advancement.

The Xuantian Lake Tunnel is located in the Xuantian Lake Scenic Area in Tongliang District, Chongqing. It is a single-tube double-track tunnel with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour and a total length of 527 meters, connecting the Xuantian Lake Double-Track Bridge and the Huanhu Road Double-Track Bridge. The project occupies a very important position in the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Middle Line High-Speed Railway.

To ensure the smooth holing-through of the Xuantian Lake Tunnel and to avoid affecting the ecological environment of the Xuantian Lake Scenic Area, the construction party adopted controlled blasting for excavation while strengthening the safety protection of the reservoir dam. During construction, the builders adopted replacement filling to treat three karst cavities in the tunnel, ensuring orderly progress of the work.

The Chengdu-Chongqing Middle Line High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Yangtze River corridor of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. The line starts from Chongqing North Station in the Chongqing hub and runs westward through Yubei District, Shapingba District, Bishan District, Tongliang District and Dazu District of Chongqing Municipality, as well as Ziyang City and Chengdu City in Sichuan Province, before entering Chengdu Station in the Chengdu hub. The main line has a total length of 292 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it will help make the road network structure in the Chengdu-Chongqing region more complete, further shorten travel time between Chengdu and Chongqing, and greatly facilitate travel for the people along the line. It is of great significance for supporting the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and fostering a new pattern of large-scale development in the western region.
