On July 5, construction began simultaneously at the entrance and exit of the Tongbaiyuan No. 1 Tunnel of the Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway, which is being built by Xicheng Passenger Dedicated Line Shaanxi Company and constructed by China Railway 20th Bureau Group, marking the official start of construction of the longest tunnel on the entire Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway line.

The Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway line has a total length of approximately 239 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It starts from Yan'an Station and runs north through Baota District and Yanchuan County in Yan'an City, and Qingjian County, Suide County, and Mizhi County in Yulin City to Hengshan District. A total of 7 stations are planned: Yan'an, Yan'an New District, Yanchuan, Qingjian North, Suide West, Mizhi North, and Yulin South. Among them, Yan'an Station is an existing station, while the others are newly built stations.

The Tongbaiyuan No. 1 Tunnel on the Yan'an-Yulin High-Speed Railway has a total length of 14,616 meters and is a key and difficult controlling project for the entire line. During project construction, the construction unit strictly controlled safety and quality, established a grid-based management leading group, formulated a grid-based management system, adhered to 24-hour shift leadership, and monitored construction throughout the entire process, ensuring that on-site construction safety and quality remained controllable. The construction unit conscientiously carried out work such as scheme preparation and technical disclosure, strictly controlled every construction detail, and strictly checked the process flow.

According to reports, it is expected that by December this year, the number of working faces in the main tunnel of Tongbaiyuan No. 1 Tunnel will increase to 6.
