On the morning of July 4, the Huaibei section of the Xiangshan Tunnel at Bid Section 1 of the Huaibei-Suzhou-Bengbu Intercity Railway was successfully holed through, marking a phased achievement in the construction of the Huaibei-Suzhou-Bengbu Railway project.

It is understood that the Xiangshan Tunnel has a total length of 1,316 meters and a maximum buried depth of 135.6 meters, with a total investment of 140 million yuan. It is a single-tube, double-track ballasted railway tunnel designed for a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. It is the only tunnel on the entire Huaibei-Suzhou-Bengbu Railway line and is a Class II high-risk tunnel, serving as a controlling project for the entire line. The tunnel entered the tunnel-body construction phase on June 25, 2023. After more than a year of construction, the first section of the tunnel was safely and smoothly holed through.
