Hangang Station on Wuhan Metro Line 12 is the only ultra-wide and ultra-deep full covered-excavation (cut-and-cover) station on the entire line. On July 7, as the last batch of concrete was poured, the foundation pit base slab at Hangang Station was successfully completed, marking that the station has officially entered the final sprint stage of the main structure construction and creating favorable conditions for the subsequent launching and receiving of shield machines.

Located next to the former site of the Hanyang Arsenal on Qintai Avenue in Hanyang District, Hangang Station is an underground four-level, four-column island-platform station, comprising the property level, concourse level, equipment level, and platform level. The station is a jointly built station for Line 12 and the future Line 14, with 2 groups of ventilation shafts, 4 entrances/exits, 4 safety exits, and 6 property entrances/exits. The station has a total length of 200 meters and a standard width of 50.7 meters. The deepest point of the main foundation pit excavation is 32.2 meters below ground level, and the top-down covered-excavation method is adopted for construction.

At the construction site on the underground fourth level, workers were carrying out cleanup and finishing work. It is understood that the last base slab poured at Hangang Station is 29.5 meters long and 1.4 meters thick, with a designed concrete pouring volume of 3,340 cubic meters and a total weight of 8,016 tons. From 5 a.m. on the 6th to 2 a.m. on the 7th, after 21 hours of continuous intensive construction, it was completed in a single pour.

According to the introduction: "Because the station is ultra-deep and ultra-wide, we simultaneously deployed four 62-meter-long truck-mounted concrete pumps for the systematic pouring of the base slab. For the four pumps, we deployed a total of 24 workers in two shifts to ensure the continuity of the base slab pouring, optimize the pouring time, and ensure the pouring quality of the base slab."

According to the introduction, the station is invested and constructed with the participation of Wuhan Metro Group and China Railway Development Investment Group, and is built by China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group. Since the main structure of the station started construction on March 20 last year, the project team has strictly controlled the design, organization, construction, and other links and time nodes, reversed the construction schedule, and carried out work in a targeted manner. It adopted an underground diaphragm wall support system combined with grouting technology at the wall bottom, and used the "breaker hammer" technique layer by layer to finely break rock, among other construction methods, successfully overcoming a series of difficulties such as high groundwater levels, hard bedrock at the base, and restrictions on blasting due to proximity to the railway line, thereby advancing the construction schedule efficiently and with high quality.

According to the introduction, the next step is to carry out secondary structure construction within the station structure, as well as some ancillary structures and some pipeline relocation construction.

According to the introduction, Wuhan Metro Line 12 has a total length of 59.9 kilometers and is Wuhan's first metro loop line, with 37 stations. Line 12 runs around the three towns of Wuhan, connecting 7 administrative districts including Jianghan, Wuchang, and Hanyang. After the project is completed, it will effectively enhance the passenger flow appeal of the loop line and relieve passenger flow pressure in the central area, and is of great significance for accelerating the construction of key development areas in Wuhan and improving the city's comprehensive transportation system.
