On July 4, the Yuntai Tunnel on the Tongguang section (Pingchang territory) of the Zhenguang Expressway achieved double-tube breakthrough. This is the first tunnel in Bazhong territory of the Zhenguang Expressway to achieve double-tube breakthrough, laying a solid foundation for the full line to open to traffic.

The Yuntai Tunnel is located in Yuntai Town, Pingchang County, Bazhong City, with the left and right tubes totaling 1,906 meters in length. The tunnel is dominated by Grade V and Grade IV surrounding rock and is a micro-gas tunnel, featuring complex geological conditions, high construction difficulty, and high technical requirements.

The construction party continuously optimized the construction organization design, prepared a special breakthrough plan, promptly adjusted the tunnel exit approach, and adopted measures such as strengthened shotcrete and rock bolt support and unloading to ensure the smooth breakthrough of the tunnel.

It is understood that the main line of the C4 project of the Zhenguang Expressway is 10.1 kilometers long, with a total cost of 1.78 billion yuan and a construction period of 3 years. It has completed 50% of the total output value, including 3 tunnels with a total length of 2.5 kilometers, which have been completed 80%. The tunnels will achieve full breakthrough in 2024.

The Zhenguang Expressway is the country's first "red expressway," connecting Zhenba County in Shaanxi Province and Guang'an City in Sichuan Province, with a total length of 251 kilometers. Once completed, it will interconnect with the Ba-Wan, Ba-Da, Ying-Da, Nan-Daliang and other expressways, break down the development barriers of tourist attractions in the Sichuan-Shaanxi Red Soviet Area, strongly support the rural revitalization of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Old Area and the Qinba Mountain Area, and be of great significance for optimizing intra-provincial transportation, promoting the economic development of Pingchang, and opening up major corridors out of the city and out of Sichuan.
