Recently, the right-line shield of the Jingguan Road Station–Yangshan Road Station section of Phase I of Xuzhou Metro Line 4 was successfully launched, marking major progress in the project construction. At the launch site, a shield tunneling machine named Kunpeng No. 6 had been installed at the tunnel portal. As the cutterhead at the very front slowly rotated, the shield machine began to advance forward.

The Kunpeng No. 6 shield machine unveiled at this launch is the first shield machine on the entire line to have its launch site provided by China Railway Construction Corporation. It is mainly responsible for the right-line tunneling task of the shield-driven section from Jingguan Road Station to Yangshan Road Station. The section is 1,583.6 m long and has two cross passages. The full face of the section passes through moderately weathered limestone and moderately weathered dolomite, and successively passes beneath super-scale high-risk projects such as the Herschmann Electronics Factory and Xuzhou Huatong Electric Company, placing extremely high requirements on tunneling control.

Under the correct leadership of the Metro Group Company and with the strong cooperation of all participating entities, the construction team successfully overcame adverse factors such as tight construction schedules, heavy tasks, cross-operation construction, and high-temperature hoisting, safely and smoothly achieving the milestone target ahead of schedule and laying a solid foundation for completing the annual tasks with high quality.
