Behind me the heat is rolling; what is being forged now is the heaviest rough steel ingot in China today, weighing in at the 600-ton class, close to the limit of forging manufacturing. After more than ten processes including smelting, forging, and post-forging heat treatment, this steel ingot will become a 231-ton conventional island integral forged rotor, which will be used in the construction of the Bailong nuclear power project.

　　Zhang Jianguo, first-class researcher at the Power Station Research Department of China First Heavy Industries Tianjin R&D:It is the core component of conventional island equipment in nuclear power, integrally forged with no weld seams. As for its internal requirements, to put it in perspective, it is equivalent to filling a 100-square-meter house with flour but not allowing any impurity the size of a grain of rice. Today only a few countries in the world can produce it. Through technical breakthroughs, we have mastered this core manufacturing technology, and a single rotor can save more than 50% of foreign exchange costs.

It has just passed the ball valve strength and sealing action tests in one go, and next it will be shipped to the hydropower station construction site. The ball valve is equivalent to the "faucet" of a hydropower station and is also a key core component; its manufacturing quality bears on the overall operational safety of the station.

　　Yang Sijin, deputy manager of the Intelligent Manufacturing Process Department of Harbin Electric Corporation Motor Company:To ensure the ball valve can open and close frequently under water and achieve "zero leakage" when closed, the machining accuracy of the entire ball valve's upstream and downstream parts and the valve disc reaches 0.05 mm—that is, the key machining accuracy of such a giant is smaller than the diameter of a human hair.

At the Daqing Oilfield perforating charge R&D and manufacturing base, the perforating charge is the "golden key" that opens an oil well; without perforating charges, underground oil and gas extraction cannot be completed.

Oil then flows from the formation into the wellbore and is extracted.

Ten years ago, the international penetration depth of perforating charges was 1,414 mm, while China's penetration depth was only 1,100 mm. In recent years, through the continuous efforts and innovation of researchers, a new type of perforating charge has been developed, with a penetration depth reaching 2,593.6 mm, setting a world penetration record.

Over the years it has achieved more than 11,000 scientific and technological results and produced a cumulative 2.5 billion tons of oil for Daqing Oilfield, providing strong support for still producing more than 40 million tons of oil per year in the late stage of high water cut.
