On June 30, the right-line shield of the Jinshan North Road Station–Yingxiong Park Station section of Section 5 of Shenyang Metro Line 6, constructed by China Railway Tunnel Group, was successfully launched, marking the project's formal entry into the shield tunneling stage. At the construction site on July 1, everyone was busy as the shield machine advanced rapidly more than 20 meters underground. The Section 5 project of Shenyang Metro Line 6 comprises "two stations and one section." The left line of the Jinying section is about 643 meters long and the right line about 648 meters, mainly passing through silty clay, medium-coarse sand and other strata, using an earth pressure balance shield machine.

According to reports, the average tunneling speed of the shield is ten rings per day, and during construction it must pass beneath risk sources such as a pedestrian overpass and the Second Ring Road bridge. To this end, before entering these risk sources, the contractor conducts trials on the shield's attitude and control parameters. At present, the main structure of Jinshan Road Station has been completed, and the right line is expected to be completed within two and a half months, after which the shield machine will be lifted out and continue tunneling the left line from Jinshan North Road Station. The left line's construction period is also about two and a half months, and the section tunnel construction is expected to be completed before the Spring Festival.

To ensure the smooth launch of the shield, Shenyang Metro Group and the project team made scientific arrangements, strictly controlling every link from shield machine selection to construction scheme review. The construction team conducted a classified analysis of project risks, repeatedly surveyed and simulated the construction site environment, working space and construction processes, formulated detailed risk prevention and control measures, and conducted safety technical briefings for every link. These measures ensured the successful hoisting and lowering of the shield machine into the shaft, assembly and commissioning, construction scheme review and acceptance of launch conditions.

The construction of Shenyang Metro Line 6 is undoubtedly one of the projects citizens have long awaited. The smooth progress of the project depends not only on advanced technical equipment but also on the meticulous management and strict control of all parties.
