Xi Jinping stressed that the next step is to properly manage and utilize the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, ensuring safe, smooth, comfortable, and intelligent operation, giving full play to its pioneering role in transportation, promoting the integrated development of the east and west banks of the Pearl River Estuary, enhancing the level of "hard connectivity" of infrastructure and "soft connectivity" of rules and mechanisms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, advancing market integration in the Greater Bay Area, and providing better service and support for building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into a strategic pivot of the new development pattern, a demonstration area of high-quality development, and a leading area of Chinese modernization.

On the morning of the 30th, the opening ceremony of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was held on the West Artificial Island. Huang Kunming, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, read out Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter on site and announced the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is a key controlling project of the Shenzhen-Cenxi National Expressway crossing the Pearl River Estuary, with a total route length of approximately 24 kilometers. The project commenced construction in February 2017 and was completed and opened to traffic after 7 years, making it the world's ** cross-sea cluster project integrating "bridge, island, tunnel, and underwater interchange." After the project opens to traffic, the driving time from Shenzhen to Zhongshan will be shortened from the current approximately 2 hours to 30 minutes.
