Recently, it was learned at the 2024 "Six Zero Green Building Materials Day" themed event hosted by the China Building Materials Federation that compared with 2020, in 2023 the energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of added value in China's building materials industry dropped by 10.3%, and carbon dioxide emissions per 10,000 yuan of industrial added value dropped by 16%. Among them, the comprehensive energy consumption per unit product of cement clinker decreased by 3%. The building materials industry is an important basic industry of the national economy. The "Work Plan for Stabilizing Growth in the Building Materials Industry" previously jointly issued by eight departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology clearly states that green transformation should be advanced, exploring the goal of "Six Zero" factories featuring zero external electricity purchases, zero fossil energy, zero primary resources, zero carbon emissions, zero waste emissions, and zero frontline employees, and encouraging enterprises to carry out technological research and upgrades and build demonstration factories.
"Achieving the 'Six Zero' goal in the building materials industry relies on new quality productive forces," said Yan Xiaofeng, President of the China Building Materials Federation. Since the **"Six Zero Green Building Materials Day" on June 6, 2023, new breakthroughs have been continuously made in green and low-carbon technologies in the building materials industry, phased results have been achieved in the construction of "Six Zero" factories, and the green concept has taken root in the hearts of people in the building materials industry.
According to Chen Guoqing, Executive Vice President of the China Building Materials Federation, in 2023, the industry public service platform for the building materials carbon labeling and environmental labeling project was launched for trial operation; more than 4,000 enterprises have been certified for green building materials, with certified products exceeding 10,000; in terms of "Six Zero" factory construction, 19 entities have organized and carried out research on 18 "One Zero" and 1 "Two Zero" demonstration factories; the proportion of cement clinker production capacity reaching or exceeding the benchmark level exceeds 15%, an increase of more than 10 percentage points over 2020; new progress has been made in the technology of large-proportion alternative fuels for cement kilns, with comprehensive energy consumption of cement clinker below 50 kilograms of standard coal per ton, reaching the domestic leading and internationally advanced level.
In the context of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the green development of the building materials industry cannot be separated from carbon emissions market trading. Lu Shize, Deputy Director of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, suggested that the building materials industry act early and prepare early, actively promote enterprises in the industry to improve production processes, develop low-carbon technologies, reduce corporate carbon emission levels, and realize the green and low-carbon development of the industry as soon as possible; become familiar with market rules as soon as possible, set about formulating corporate compliance strategies, actively participate in carbon emissions rights market trading, and reasonably control corporate compliance costs; strengthen corporate capacity building, set up dedicated personnel and technical teams responsible for matters related to the national carbon emissions rights trading market, and enhance the basic capacity for participating in the market.
At the event site, the China Building Materials Federation released the group standard "General Rules for Evaluation of 'Six Zero' Factories in the Building Materials Industry," which clarifies the terminology and definitions of the "Six Zero" series of factories, proposes the general requirements for evaluation of the "Six Zero" series of factories, provides a reference technical standard for the creation and evaluation of "Six Zero" factories in the building materials industry, and also provides an overall technical framework for formulating evaluation standards or specific requirements for "Six Zero" factories in various sub-sectors.
