The reporter learned from Tongnan District of Chongqing that on June 26, the Chongqing Huadian Tongnan Phase I 2×500MW-class gas power project officially broke ground for construction.

It is reported that the project is a key energy and power supply-guarantee project of Chongqing during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Located in the Tongnan High-tech Zone, the project involves an investment of 2.56 billion yuan, with an annual power generation of about 2.1 billion kWh and an annual output value of about 1 billion yuan. It is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it will further optimize Chongqing's power source structure and enhance the power supply-guarantee capacity of the areas adjacent to Sichuan and Chongqing. At the same time, through technological upgrading, the project will convert peak-shaving units into cogeneration units, which can guarantee the heat and power supply for enterprises and enhance the industrial carrying capacity, attractiveness and radiating influence of the Tongnan park.

In recent years, Tongnan has seized major strategic opportunities such as the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, vigorously implemented the "Fujiang River Surging" plan, built itself into a "strong manufacturing district," made concerted efforts to develop the new energy and new-type energy storage industries, and built an advanced manufacturing base in the central part of the Chengdu-Chongqing region.

A relevant person in charge of the Tongnan High-tech Zone said that next, they will provide forward-looking services in all aspects and throughout the whole process, effectively ensure service support in water, electricity, gas, communications and roads, guarantee enterprises' needs for labor and raw material supply, create the best environment for construction, and help the project be completed and put into production with results as soon as possible.
