On the afternoon of June 20, the 2024 Sichuan-Taiwan Industrial Cooperation Promotion Conference, themed "Sichuan-Taiwan Industrial Cooperation · Integrating Cross-Strait Development," opened in Yibin, Sichuan, with seven Taiwan-funded projects signed on site.

In recent years, economic and trade cooperation between Sichuan and Taiwan has maintained steady growth, with an average of more than 100 new Taiwan-funded projects and about US$800 million in investment annually. In 2023, Taiwan was Sichuan's sixth-largest trading partner, with major products including automatic data processing equipment and parts, electronic components, and others.

"Taiwan and Sichuan share many areas of exchange and similarity in economic industry," said Hsu Shu-po, Chairman of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce. He noted that Taiwan has development advantages in high-tech industries, services, and medical biotechnology, while Sichuan has abundant resources in agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals and health, and electronic information. The two sides can learn from each other through economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, complement each other's strengths, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

Liu Xiaochen, Director of the Sichuan Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, said that this year Sichuan is carrying out the "Year of High-Quality Development Services for Taiwan Compatriots and Taiwan Enterprises" campaign across the province, further strengthening legal, policy, and service guarantees for investment by Taiwan compatriots and businesspeople. "We are willing to share Sichuan's development opportunities with the broad masses of Taiwan compatriots, provide them with first-class services, create a better development environment, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes."

On that day, seven Sichuan-Taiwan industrial cooperation projects were signed on site, including a smart supply chain digital platform, deep processing of high-quality bamboo shoots, and the construction of an edible fungi industry base, involving multiple fields such as electronic information, modern agriculture, biopharmaceuticals, and food processing, with a total investment of approximately 1.693 billion yuan (RMB, same below).

Taiwan businessperson Xu Jianzhe has been developing in Sichuan for nearly ten years, mainly engaged in factory-based production of edible fungi. Today, his enterprise produces about 60 tons of edible fungi per day, with an annual output value of 120 million yuan. He told reporters that this time he will build an edible fungi industrial park in Hejiang County, Luzhou City, with an investment of about 30 million yuan. "The mainland is now pursuing rural revitalization. We plan to bring modern agriculture to the countryside and increase the income of local residents."

The event was co-hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office and the Yibin Municipal People's Government, attracting more than 200 participants, including representatives from the Taiwan side of the Cross-Strait Entrepreneur Summit, representatives of the National Taiwan Enterprise Federation, and representatives of industry associations and entrepreneurs in Taiwan's electronic information, modern agriculture, cultural tourism and creative industries, and other fields. In the coming days, participants will also travel to Chengdu, Zigong, Neijiang, and other places to explore industrial cooperation opportunities.
