According to news from Shentong Metro Construction Group, the bottom slab of the Fengbang intermediate ventilation shaft for Section 13-101 of the west extension project of Shanghai Rail Transit Line 13 was recently successfully sealed, providing a solid foundation for smoothly crossing the Hongqiao EMU depot and for the launch of the shield tunneling in the Feng-Jin section.

The Fengbang intermediate ventilation shaft is located in Jiading District, Shanghai, only 36.2 meters east of the Fengbang River and only 14.3 meters west of the Fengbang River, and is a five-story underground frame structure. The excavation depth reaches 33.9 meters, making it an ultra-deep foundation pit ventilation shaft.

Facing numerous challenges, the construction team reviewed and discussed the dewatering plan and excavation plan, and adopted a recharge-enhanced dewatering plan, effectively reducing settlement of the elevated bridge.

During construction, the construction team adopted a 24-hour inspection mechanism combining "mobile patrols + fixed-point guarding," while controlling the sequencing and progress of each process; through multiple measures, the foundation pit was ultimately sealed safely and quickly, and the main structure bottom slab was completed on schedule, safely, and with quality assured.

As a component of the urban rail transit network, the west extension project of Shanghai Rail Transit Line 13, by connecting with the earlier phase of Line 13, opens a new rapid route linking the Hongqiao Business District with the city center and with Pudong New Area, which can reduce the pressure of large passenger flows at the National Exhibition and Convention Center and better improve the rail transit service level in the Hongqiao area.
