According to the introduction by China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., at 17:25 on June 18, at the construction site of the extra-large bridge crossing the G40 Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway in Baogong Town, Feidong County, Hefei City, after about 6 hours of continuous pouring, the two tower columns of the main bridge of the extra-large bridge crossing the G40 Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway on the Anhui section of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway were successfully capped, marking phased progress in the bridge's construction. See details below↓

The extra-large bridge crossing the Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway has a total length of 20.8 kilometers. Its main bridge obliquely crosses the G40 Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway from northwest to southeast at an angle of 24 degrees to the expressway, and is a key and difficult project on the Anhui section of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway. The main bridge of this extra-large bridge is 497 meters long and is designed as a double-tower, double-cable-plane prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge. The main bridge span arrangement is (32 m + 93 m + 240 m + 93 m + 32 m). The cable towers adopt a double-column structure, with the two main towers being Tower No. 621 and Tower No. 622 respectively. The tower height above the bridge deck is 43.2 meters, with a rectangular solid structure of 5.5 meters (longitudinal) × 2.5 meters (transverse). The two tower columns are each divided into 11 segments for pouring, with each segment having a pouring height of about 4.0 meters. This pouring was for the last segment of the tower columns.

The Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway is the eastern section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and an important component of the Yangtze River corridor of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It undertakes the transport of major network passenger flows along the Yangtze River corridor, as well as part of the direct passenger flows to Shanghai from the coastal and Beijing-Shanghai corridors. Once completed, the project will establish a new fast corridor among the Shanghai metropolitan area, the Nanjing metropolitan area, and the Hefei metropolitan area, which is of great significance for optimizing the layout of the railway network in the Yangtze River region, serving the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and promoting the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
