From January to May, Jiangsu railway construction projects completed an investment of 26.988 billion yuan, exceeding the scheduled progress. Entering June, all under-construction railway projects across the province are going full throttle to sprint toward the first-half construction targets.
Since the start of summer, construction of the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway—an important component of the Yangtze River Delta intercity rail transit network—has been in full swing.
On the evening of June 15, at the construction site of the Hongze-Jinhu double-track grand bridge, workers were stepping up concrete pouring for the cantilever-cast girders. "The Ning-Huai Intercity Railway Section 2 project is about 38 kilometers long, with the construction area spanning Hongze District and Jinhu County of Huai'an City. Among them, the Hongze-Jinhu double-track grand bridge's Sanhe section crossing the Huaihe River's waterway to the Yangtze is 2.4 kilometers long, making it the longest river-crossing bridge on the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway. Its superstructure construction is relatively complex and the construction cycle is long, making it a key and difficult controlling project along the entire line," introduced Qi Jiayan, project manager of the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway project of China Railway 16th Bureau. Currently, 95.6% of the pile foundations and 70.5% of the pile caps along the entire line have been completed, and the cumulative completion of bridge pier and abutment bodies has reached 52.4%. All pile foundation construction tasks will be completed in the first half of the year, and girder erection construction along the entire line will start at the end of June. The project department will further refine its targets and tasks, optimize the construction plan, ensure completion of the bridge substructure construction by the end of this year, go all out to accelerate construction progress, and contribute to speeding up the building of a "Jiangsu on Rails" and advancing integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
The construction of the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway is not only related to improving the regional transportation network, but is also an important support for promoting integrated regional economic development. At present, construction along the entire line is in full swing. On June 16, at the site of Section 8 of the Nantong segment project, construction vehicles shuttled back and forth, tower cranes lifted and unloaded in an orderly manner, and excavators and loaders came and went amid a steady stream of noise—a busy scene. "At present, 95% of the bridge construction pile foundations, 89% of the pile caps, and 85% of the pier bodies of the project have been completed. The cast-in-place continuous girder for the double-to-four-track turnout at Rugao West Station of the Tongtaiyang Grand Bridge has been poured and completed. The construction target for the first half of the year can be achieved. It is expected that in the second half of the year, 80% of the cantilever-cast girders will be closed and 60% of the box girders will be erected. Within the year, the bridge substructure construction including pile foundations, pile caps, and pier bodies will be completed, and the project will fully shift to superstructure girder erection and related ancillary structure construction," said Li Chao, deputy chief engineer of the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway project of China Railway 14th Bureau.
At the construction site of the Fangxin Road frame bridge extension project in the Nanjing segment, Zhang Wei, deputy manager of the First Sub-division of Section 3 of the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway Nanjing Hub project of China Railway 24th Bureau, introduced that since the beginning of this year, the renovation construction at Yinzhuang Station has progressed rapidly. Subgrade earthwork and stonework construction will be completed by the end of June, and all subgrade ancillary construction for Yinzhuang Station and the reconstructed ethylene dedicated line will be completed by the end of July, so as to ensure the progress of the Nanjing North Station and its collection and distribution system project.
The pre-station Section 3 project of the Shanghai-Nanjing segment of the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway has a total investment of approximately 3.344 billion yuan, with main construction content including subgrade, bridges, and other works. Entering June, temperatures are rising, and at the construction site numerous builders remain at their posts, going all out to ensure project progress.
"At present, project construction is progressing smoothly. Nearly 90% of bridge bored piles, more than 60% of bridge pile caps, and 50% of bridge pier bodies have been completed, accounting for about 36% of the total construction period. According to plan, by the end of December this year, 90% of the subgrade works and 65% of the bridge works must be completed," said Wang Qingyun, executive manager of the pre-station Section 3 project of the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway of China Railway 24th Bureau. "The project is now in a stage of all-out assault. We will plan scientifically, organize meticulously, strengthen daily inspections of work in high-temperature weather, strictly implement heatstroke prevention and cooling measures, and ensure the project is completed on schedule and with high quality. As the project continues to advance, they are full of confidence in achieving the annual construction targets and look forward to the early opening of the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway, bringing convenience to regional economic development and public travel."
"We are carrying out girder erection operations at full speed and have completed 17.1% of the designed volume of 854 girders, with an output value of 14 million yuan completed. It is expected that an output value of 15 million yuan will be completed by the end of June, and the plan for this year is to erect 368 box girders," said Wu Long, head of the girder erection division of the Shanghai-Nanjing segment of the North Yanjiang High-Speed Railway of China Railway 11th Bureau. Judging from current progress, the girder erection task for this section can be completed in an orderly and efficient manner this year.
Turning to the Suzhou East Tunnel of the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-Speed Railway, the super-large-diameter slurry balance shield machine "Tongyong Yuanmeng" with an excavation diameter of 14.81 meters is advancing at an average rate of 8 to 10 rings per day. "It has now excavated 227 rings (over 450 meters), and the plan is to exceed 3,000 meters by the end of this year," introduced Yu Pengchen, shield manager of the Tongyong High-Speed Railway project department of China Railway 14th Bureau. The shield construction adopts the domestically pioneered new technology of "synchronous pushing and segment assembly plus simultaneous dual-liquid grouting," which changes the traditional mode of stopping after each ring of excavation to install segments before excavating again, achieving simultaneous completion of shield advancement and segment installation.
The pre-station Section 3 project of the Taicang-Situan segment of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway is an important component of the coastal corridor in the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network under the national medium- and long-term railway network plan. "All employees of the project department have worked together to overcome difficulties, cleared early-stage construction obstacles, and resolved construction pain points and difficulties. Up to now, 40% of the bridge works have been completed, and preparatory work for the subgrade works has been completed," introduced Chen Wufeng, head of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway project of China Railway 24th Bureau. "We will scientifically coordinate on-site construction organization, race against time, seize key nodes, strive to complete all bridge substructures in the second half of the year, and make unremitting efforts to achieve the full-year target."
To build a modern transportation and logistics system to higher standards and open up the "last kilometer" of railway access to ports, construction of dedicated railway lines at various ports is also accelerating in parallel.
The dedicated railway line of the Canal Suqian Port starts from Yanghe Station of the Suhuai Railway, passes through Yanghe New Area and Sucheng District, and reaches Canal Suqian Port, where a port loading and unloading station is set up. The total line length is 6.283 kilometers. At present, all engineering construction has been completed for the Zhuoma River Grand Bridge, the intermediate subgrade, and the newly built port station of the project. Track tamping by large machinery and ballast bed trimming have been completed along the entire line, and the line is ready for train operation. Static acceptance work for the dedicated line began in early June. "Next, comprehensive acceptance work for soil and water conservation, environmental protection, safety protection, and other aspects will be carried out successively. Before the end of this month, the prerequisite work for the final completion acceptance of the dedicated line will be completed to ensure the dedicated line opens as planned," said Wang Liqiang, project manager of the Suqian Port dedicated railway line of China Railway 24th Bureau.
The Jiangdu dedicated railway line project is a key branch-line project in the "14th Five-Year Plan for Railway Development and Medium- and Long-Term Network Layout Planning of Jiangsu Province." Relying on the existing logistics park, it aims to build a central Jiangsu international hub park, connecting eastward to the rail-sea intermodal transport corridors of Shanghai Port, Ningbo Port, and Tongzhou Bay, and opening westward the China-Europe freight train route. "As of May, the project has achieved investment implementation of 70 million yuan, completing 42% of the annual investment plan," introduced He Shouyao, general contracting project manager of the Jiangdu dedicated railway line of China Railway Shanghai Design Institute. At present, pile foundation construction for the gantry crane traveling rail in the extended and modified loading and unloading line section has been completed, the traveling rail foundation has basically been completed, and the pavement structural layer of the logistics base has begun construction, with progress becoming faster and faster.
