On June 14, Qian Qihu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, expert in protective engineering and military engineering, recipient of the "August 1st Medal" and the "State Preeminent Science and Technology Award," visited CRCHI (China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation) with his delegation to investigate the development of the full-face tunnel boring machine industry. Zhao Hui, Party Secretary and Chairman of CRCHI, He Yongjun, Deputy Party Secretary and Deputy General Manager, and Liu Shaobao, Member of the Party Standing Committee and Deputy General Manager, accompanied the investigation.

Academician Qian Qihu and his delegation successively visited CRCHI's full-face tunnel boring machine production line, drill-and-blast tunnel equipment production line, TBM main bearing production line, and the achievement exhibition hall of the original technology source, and listened to CRCHI's report on the development, technological innovation, and engineering application of equipment such as the kilometer-level shaft boring machine, new-type boring machines, and large-diameter TBM main bearings.

Academician Qian Qihu stated that achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-strengthening is an important support for developing new quality productive forces and achieving high-quality development. CRCHI has adhered to the "Four Orientations," solved a series of "bottleneck" problems, effectively promoted the localization process of the boring machine industry, and implemented with practical actions General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on accelerating the building of a strong country in science and technology and achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-strengthening.
