On June 16, the reporter learned from Nanchang Municipal Public Utility Group that the main line of the Hongzhou Bridge project, which has long been a focus of public attention, has achieved full connectivity, with official opening to traffic planned for July 1.

According to the introduction, Hongzhou Bridge is 3 kilometers from the Fuxing Bridge downstream and 4.5 kilometers from the South Outer Ring Bridge upstream, serving as an urban expressway connecting Nanchang County and Honggutan District. The project has a total length of approximately 4.34 kilometers, with a dual-direction 8-lane main line designed for a speed of 80 kilometers per hour, of which the river-crossing section is 1.5 kilometers with a standard cross-section width of 38 meters. The main bridge adopts a self-anchored suspension bridge design, with a maximum span of 252 meters and a tower height of 116.3 meters, of which the tower above the bridge deck is 83.6 meters. It features a structure modeled on the Chinese character "昌" (Chang), carrying an auspicious meaning and symbolizing the prosperity of Nanchang.

After crossing the Shengmi Bridge, driving from north to south along the Ganjiang South Avenue, one can successively see the Fuxing Bridge with its "Dancing Hongdu" motif, the Hongzhou Bridge themed on the character "昌", and a railway bridge employing a continuous girder design. The three bridges are well-spaced and each presents a distinct scene, creating a unique landscape. In addition, once the Ganjiang-Fu River estuary comprehensive improvement project is completed, the normal water level of the Ganjiang River will reach 15.5 meters, making the river surface more expansive. The Hongzhou Bridge will soar above it, and its 116.3-meter cable tower will appear even more magnificent amid the vast misty waters, adding new heights of beauty to the Ganjiang River skyline.

The landscape lighting of Hongzhou Bridge is a major highlight, mainly employing "projection + point light source" technology and capable of being set to two modes—daily and festive—with lighting effects belonging to the beauty of dynamic effects. For the "Sporty Cool Nanchang: Ten-Thousand-Person Cycling and Night Running" event, the main tower lighting uses pure red, and the bridge nameplate is illuminated by golden-yellow floodlights. Golden-yellow point light sources are installed on the main cables and suspenders to outline the graceful curves of the main cables; the wall-washing lights under the bridge in the water use cool white; the overall effect creates a fine nighttime atmosphere. In contrast, the lighting effect of the Fuxing Bridge downstream belongs to the beauty of static effects. The two bridges, "one dynamic and one static," enhance each other, adding luster to the nighttime scenery on both banks of the river.

The reporter also learned that Hongzhou Bridge broke ground in February 2022 and was completed in June 2024, with a construction period of only 2 years and 4 months, once again setting a new record for bridge-building speed in Nanchang. The completion of Hongzhou Bridge, on the one hand, has created a new urban landmark; on the other hand, it has expanded the riverside framework, extending the distance of the built-up area on both banks of the river from the current Yingxiong Bridge to Shengmi Bridge from 13 kilometers to 20 kilometers, creating extremely favorable conditions for enhancing the city's image and promoting riverside tourism development. On this basis, Hongzhou Bridge further promotes the road network connection of the city's river-crossing passages. In the east-west direction, it can respectively connect to the Nanchang East Outer Ring Expressway and the Changli Expressway, further alleviating the river-crossing pressure on the Shengmi Bridge and Chaoyang Bridge within the city, accelerating internal and external traffic connections, and promoting the coordinated development of Nanchang County and Honggutan District.
