On June 14, the Jingpeng–Ulan Butong (Mengji Boundary) Expressway, the first green boutique tourism highway in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, officially opened to traffic. With this, the travel time between Jingpeng and Ulan Butong (Jingwu Expressway for short) has been shortened from two hours in the past to less than one hour.

The reporter learned from the Inner Mongolia Transportation Group that the Jingwu Expressway is the first national expressway in Inner Mongolia invested and built under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The entire project is located within Keshiketeng Banner, Chifeng City. It is a typical demonstration project of the second batch of green highway construction of the Ministry of Transport, and also a typical demonstration project of green highway construction in Inner Mongolia.

The main line of the Jingwu Expressway is 96.151 kilometers long and is built to a two-way, four-lane expressway standard. Along the route are numerous tourist attractions and scenic spots, including the Huangyuan Nature Reserve, the Xilamulun Tourist Area, the Huamugou Forest Farm, the Ulan Butong ancient battlefield, and the Hongshan Military Horse Farm. After opening to traffic, it connects the three major grassland tourist areas of Bashang, Ulan Butong, and Keshiketeng, forming a tourism loop of "Beijing–Chengde–Chifeng–Xilinhot–Zhangjiakou."
