The T208-0054 plot project in Nanshan District,
constructed by China Construction Second Engineering Bureau,
welcomed its base slab pouring.
Located in the core area of Shenzhen Bay Headquarters Base,
the project is a landmark building of the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base
and one of the benchmark super towers under construction in Shenzhen.
The foundation pit has a large-area depth of 42.35 meters, making it the deepest foundation pit for civil buildings in China.

The project has a total construction area of approximately 364,900 square meters
and a building height of 394.4 meters.
It includes 8 underground floors and 82 above-ground floors,
integrating super Grade-A office space, high-end retail,
and distinctive cultural facilities.
It is a key project of the Shenzhen Municipal Government
and will become an international science and technology finance center in the Bay Area upon completion.
Rooting Downward
High-Quality Completion of Base Slab Pouring

The total pouring volume of the project's foundation pit base slab is nearly 30,000 cubic meters.
At peak, the single-day pouring volume approached 10,000 cubic meters,
accounting for one-tenth of Shenzhen's total daily concrete output.
The pouring area reached 8,420 square meters,
exceeding the area of a standard football field.
The maximum pouring thickness was 6.6 meters,
greater than the height of a two-story residential building.

To ensure the quality and efficiency of the base slab pouring,
the project team, together with all participating parties,
conducted engineering research and technical scheme discussions.
Considering the large pouring volume, deep downward transport,
tight construction space, and operations beneath the struts,
they adopted two sets of self-developed multi-branch ultra-high chute systems
and six sets of four-stage buffer pumping systems for the base slab pouring.
Through flexible scheduling of pouring points via gate valves,
multiple measures were taken to achieve full coverage of the base slab.

During the pouring period,
150 concrete mixer trucks will be deployed,
and more than 500 project builders will work together to tackle the challenge.
They are expected to work continuously for about four days and nights
to lay a solid foundation for this landmark building
that will impress the Bay Area.
Growing Upward
Multiple Measures to Tackle Foundation Pit Construction

As a super high-rise building striving for the skyline of Shenzhen Bay,
the project site is located in a reclamation area
with a high water table and complex geological conditions, making foundation pit excavation difficult.
Moreover, it is adjacent to a metro line,
with the excavation boundary at a minimum distance of only about 4.4 meters
from the outer edge of the tunnel structure.
The installation of the basement steel structure is also highly challenging.
Various complex factors
pose great challenges to project construction and quality control.

During the foundation pit excavation stage,
facing the challenge that the base rock strength reaches 136 MPa to 180 MPa
and the pit is adjacent to a metro tunnel, which is a restricted blasting area,
the project team used a strategy of "leveraging existing conditions."
They used the fractured zone as the excavation entry point to create a free face while also serving as a vibration reduction zone,
and removed the rock layer by layer using "static blasting + hydraulic breakers."
During rock excavation, various methods such as water-drilling, anchor drilling for pilot holes,
and manual splitting in confined spaces were used to assist excavation.
The excavation of the core tube area was completed efficiently.

Facing the high groundwater level,
the project team adopted diaphragm wall support
in the foundation pit enclosure structure
and conducted grouting treatment around the pit bottom and in the structural fracture zones within the pit
to control the groundwater level around the pit during construction.
For the adjacent metro line,
an automated monitoring system for the foundation pit was used to monitor the metro,
and an axial force servo system was used for automatic servo control, real-time monitoring, and automatic alarming
of the support axial force and deformation,
ensuring the normal operation of the metro.

Facing the complex installation of the basement steel structure,
the project adopted a combination of "integral lifting" and "in-situ assembly"
for the installation of the mega-column anchor bolt groups.
At the same time, for the grid-shaped punching shear steel beams embedded in the large base slab
that cannot be lifted vertically,
a special installation method of "segmented in-situ assembly + chain block segmented in-situ lifting" was used.
Through model innovation and technological innovation, efficient construction was achieved,
enabling high-quality delivery of the foundation pit steel structure construction.
Going Green
High-Standard Implementation of Green Construction

The project is located in the core area of Shenzhen Bay Headquarters Base,
adjacent to office areas, residential areas, and multiple roads.
While enjoying advantages such as a superior location, convenient transportation,
and a beautiful environment,
it also imposes extremely high requirements for green construction.

To fulfill environmental protection responsibilities,
for the large number of vehicles frequently entering and leaving the site,
the project adopted automatic car wash technology with infrared automatic sensing for cleaning, reducing manual input and improving efficiency.
To support organized water interception on the sealed slab,
rainwater is collected and recycled after sedimentation.
While protecting the environment, this greatly reduces water waste.
To manage dust during the foundation pit excavation stage,
the project adopted wet operations to implement the "eight hundred percent" dust control requirements.
Water sprinklers, water cannons, and fog cannons were set up on site,
and automatic sprinkler systems were installed on the perimeter fences.
Excavation was carried out in zones and covered with geotextile
to prevent dust pollution, and a dust control task force was coordinated for supervision.
Green construction requirements continue to be implemented to create a new benchmark for green building.
