Recently, the single-head excavation at the entrance of Xiangyang No. 1 Tunnel on Section 2 of the Kangyu (Chongqing–Xi'an) High-Speed Railway's Xikang–Yukang segment surpassed the 1,000-meter mark, marking phased progress in tunnel construction.

The entrance of Xiangyang No. 1 Tunnel is located in Baitai Village, Mingtong Town, Chengkou County, Chongqing. The construction length is approximately 10 kilometers, with a maximum burial depth of 1,007 meters. The portal is situated on steep, high mountains with a narrow site, making construction difficult and safety risks high.

The Kangyu segment of the Xikang–Yukang High-Speed Railway is part of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network. The project will create a high-speed rail corridor from the Northwest to the Southwest and improve the regional rail network layout, which is of positive significance for strengthening ties between the Chengdu–Chongqing and Guanzhong urban agglomerations and promoting the construction of the Chengdu–Chongqing dual-city economic zone.
