Recently, the diaphragm wall project for the ventilation shaft on the section from Gongyelu Station to Beiyangqiao Station of the Xingang Line of Wuhan Metro Line 10, constructed by Shanghai Yuanyang, completed all construction tasks in two months.

Special Techniques to Overcome Difficulties

Trenching Construction

Since part of the work area for this project is located beneath high-voltage power lines, the effective clearance after completion of physical protection construction is only 10.9 m, making the objective working conditions harsh and construction highly difficult. To solve the problem of limited working space, the trenching construction for the diaphragm wall in this project adopted low-clearance technology. To successfully complete the diaphragm wall construction beneath the high-voltage lines, in terms of staffing, core technical personnel with extensive low-clearance construction experience were assigned to be responsible for project construction management; in terms of construction equipment input, 1 XCMG XTC80/60M trench cutter and 1 XCMG 500E trenching machine were specially deployed for the low-clearance technology; the reinforcement cage was processed by integral fabrication and sectional hoisting. Relying on a scientific construction plan and excellent construction equipment, the project team successfully solved the construction challenge of only 10.9 m clearance and insufficient effective working space.

Fine Management to Improve Quality and Efficiency

Trench Wall Inspection

Since the date of winning the bid, the project team has carried out construction preparation work in an orderly manner, formulated a detailed construction plan, and ensured that construction personnel, machinery and equipment, and materials were in place in a timely manner, avoiding time waste caused by insufficient preliminary preparation and greatly improving overall construction efficiency. During construction, the project team established a good communication mechanism with the client and specialized construction teams, ensuring effective communication among multiple parties and smooth information transmission, and steadily advancing the project construction with unity from top to bottom; in safety management, the project team adhered to the safety philosophy of "no small matter in safety, preventive measures first," requiring all construction personnel to keep safety in mind and firmly hold the safety red line; in quality control, while strengthening the inspection and acceptance management of incoming materials and supplies, the project team strictly supervised the finished quality of the diaphragm wall; in schedule control, according to the actual conditions of the construction site, the project team refined the construction plan and reasonably divided construction tasks to ensure close linkage of on-site processes and smooth work flow. The project team meticulously carried out construction preparation, communication, safety management, quality control, schedule control, and many other tasks, which not only laid a solid foundation for delivering a high-quality project on schedule but also reduced waste of various resources and effectively lowered construction costs.

The western extension of the Xingang Line of Line 10 effectively solves the existing problem of lacking a direct express line, connects Wuhan Railway Station and Hankou Railway Station, strengthens rail transit support for the two major external transport hubs, and will further realize rapid transfer between internal and external urban transport and accelerate the construction of a pilot city for comprehensive transport hubs. After the line is completed and opened to traffic, the two major national railway stations will be directly connected by metro in the future, and the travel time from Hankou Station to Wuhan Station will be shortened from the current 70 minutes to within 25 minutes.
