On June 3, the left line of the Huaxiba Station–Xinnanmen Station section in Work Zone 5 of Chengdu Rail Transit Line 13, constructed by China Railway Tunnel Group, was successfully holed through. This is another major milestone following the capping of the main structure of Xinnanmen Station last month. It not only means that the tunnel works of the project have achieved full breakthrough across the entire line, but also marks the successful completion of all main structures in Work Zone 5.

The civil engineering Work Zone 5 of Phase I of the Chengdu Rail Transit Line 13 project comprises 4 stations and 5 sections: Wenweng Shishi Station (excluded) – Huaxiba Station – Xinnanmen Station – Jiuyanqiao Station – Sanguantang Station – Jingjusi Station (excluded). The five sections have a total length of approximately 9,029 meters, spanning the three districts of Qingyang, Wuhou, and Jinjiang in Chengdu, and were excavated using four earth pressure balance shield machines with a diameter of 8.63 meters.
