Recently, with the roar of the shield machine starting up, the shield machine for the left line of the section from Shawei Station to Wenwusha·International School Station in Work Zone 2 of the East Extension Section Project (civil construction) of Fuzhou Rail Transit Line 6, undertaken by China Railway No. 8 Engineering Group, was successfully launched.

The tunnel in the section from Shawei Station to Wenwusha·International School Station has a total length of 438.885 meters. The maximum overburden thickness of the tunnel in this section is 11.4 meters, and the minimum is 9.3 meters. It mainly passes through (muddy) silty sand, (mud-containing) fine-medium sand, and (sand-containing) silty clay (silted) strata. In addition, the construction area is close to the sea, and groundwater is relatively abundant, which poses great challenges to shield launching, tunneling, and receiving.

To ensure the smooth launching of the shield machine, the project department fully drew on relevant experience from the shield machine launching in the Wen-Shi section, planned ahead and deployed meticulously, further clarified the division of responsibilities, strictly grasped process coordination, coordinated resource allocation, comprehensively considered the safety risk factors of launching, tunneling, and receiving, formulated a safe and efficient shield machine launching plan, organized and carried out launching preparation work in strict accordance with requirements, and completed with high quality various key procedures such as the construction of the shield launching shaft, shield machine hoisting and lowering into the shaft, installation and commissioning, and acceptance of launching conditions, ensuring the smooth launching of the left-line shield as scheduled.
