Recently, the large-diameter slurry shield machine "China Railway No. 1330," manufactured by China Railway Huasui, successfully rolled off the assembly line at the company's shield general assembly workshop. This equipment is a direct-discharge slurry balance shield machine with an excavation diameter of 12.6 meters and a total length of approximately 132 meters. It will be used in Work Area 1 of Section YDZH-7 of the "One Ring One Ray" project of the Guangdong Huasui Yuedong Intercity Railway.

The Yuedong Intercity Railway project is mainly applied to the section from Times Square to Longhu Affiliated Middle School in the direction of the Zhongshan Road Tunnel. Times Square is known as the "living room" of Shantou, with dense crowds and heavy traffic. The shield tunneling runs from Times Square (launch) → toward Longhu Affiliated Middle School → shield receiving shaft (Children's Park Station), and must pass beneath important buildings and structures. It will face challenges such as ground settlement during shallow cover tunneling, shield attitude control, cutterhead mud cake formation when tunneling in cohesive soil strata, and wear during long-distance sand layer tunneling.

In response to the complex conditions of the project, the design team customized "China Railway No. 1330." To address construction difficulties such as long-distance rock stratum intrusion and crossing bridge piles, a cutter box with interchangeable disc cutters and ripping teeth was designed. To address the problem of head-down tendency when tunneling in soft soil strata, an enhanced tunneling mode is provided to facilitate shield correction during small-curve tunneling. To address the issue of segment flotation during tunneling in soft soil strata, simultaneous two-component grouting is configured to accelerate grout setting, effectively ensuring the equipment's tunneling adaptability and safety in this construction section.

It is reported that the "One Ring One Ray" route of the Yuedong Intercity Railway has a total length of 140 kilometers. The Yuedong Intercity Railway will connect external transportation hubs such as Shantou Station, Chaoshan Station, Jieyang Station, and Chaoshan Airport, and introduce them into the central urban areas of Shantou, Chaozhou, and Jieyang. It will link the region's major economic nodes, densely populated areas, and transportation hubs like beads on a string, forming the overall layout of "One Ring One Ray." This is of great significance for realizing the "half-hour commuting circle" among the central urban areas of the Shantou-Chaozhou-Jieyang metropolitan area and the "one-hour transportation circle" in the Yuedong region, and for promoting the high-quality development of the Yuedong region.
