In recent days, a number of major water conservancy projects across various regions have made new progress.
Not long ago, the Tuanjie Main Canal of the Meijiang Irrigation District Project—a national key water conservancy project located in Ningdu, Jiangxi—was completed and began trial water conveyance. The 28-kilometer-long Tuanjie Main Canal is the main canal with the longest water conveyance route and the largest irrigation area in the Meijiang Irrigation District Project, and can effectively improve irrigation conditions for more than 100,000 mu of rice, orchards, and vegetable greenhouses in the region.
In Nanchong, Sichuan, construction of Phase I of the Tingzikou Irrigation District Project—a major national water conservancy project—is being vigorously advanced, with efforts to achieve full breakthrough of the main canal tunnel within this year. The project involves a total investment of approximately 15.4 billion yuan; once completed, it will effectively guarantee water supply for 13 counties and districts in 4 cities in northeastern Sichuan, benefiting more than 4 million people. In Liaoning, the total construction period of the Liaoyang Irrigation District upgrading and renovation project is already nearly 70% complete and is expected to be finished before the end of this year; after completion, the agricultural irrigation guarantee rate along the route will reach over 75%.
In Chongqing, the diversion tunnel—a **controlled project of the Zhaodu Reservoir, a major project of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle—has been officially completed. The Zhaodu Reservoir has a total storage capacity of more than 200 million cubic meters and will add 170,000 mu of irrigated area and improve irrigation on 65,000 mu. In Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang, construction of the gravity dam, diversion tunnel, and other works of the Linhai Reservoir Project is proceeding simultaneously; the project involves a total investment of more than 3.8 billion yuan, and once completed, it will effectively improve the regional water ecological environment and raise the irrigation guarantee rate. In Xinyang, Henan, the Yuanwan Reservoir Project construction site is bustling, with workers seizing the golden period for water conservancy construction and striving to impound water at the reservoir by October next year.
A number of important flood control projects are also racing against the schedule. In Baoding, Hebei, construction is being accelerated on multiple flood-damaged river channels. At present, 216 flood-damage restoration projects in Hebei are being pushed forward and are expected to be fully completed by the end of June. In Wuhan, Hubei, the main works of the Zhulinhu Pumping Station of the Dujiatai Flood Diversion and Storage Area Project—one of the country's 150 major water conservancy projects—have been completed and are expected to reach drainage standards by the end of July. In Shanghai, construction of 10 sluice gates, including the Suzhou Creek West Sluice and the Xinchuan Sand Pumping Sluice, is being accelerated, with water passage planned before this year's flood season to ensure the city's safe passage through the flood season.
