On June 3, the Daliangshan No. 2 Tunnel, a controlling project of the Leshan-Xichang Expressway invested in and constructed by the Shudao Group and jointly built by units including China Railway 15th Bureau, was fully holed through.
According to reports, the Daliangshan No. 2 Tunnel is about 12.5 kilometers long, the fourth-longest tunnel among expressways under construction in Southwest China and the second-longest on the entire Leshan-Xichang Expressway, making it a controlling project for the whole line. The tunnel is located in a shallow-buried, water-rich landslide section and passes through gas-bearing zones and weak surrounding rock deformation sections in many places, posing great construction difficulties and high safety risks.

Among these, where the tunnel passes through water-rich limestone sections, the maximum daily water inflow exceeded 70,000 cubic meters, equivalent to the storage capacity of 28 standard swimming pools. During construction, all participating units actively applied intelligent equipment, adopting new devices such as multifunctional arch installation trolleys, wet-spraying robotic arms, and rock drilling trolleys, while introducing technologies such as airborne LiDAR and oblique photography to collect holographic terrain and features, efficiently identify unfavorable geological bodies, and ensure high-quality and efficient tunneling.
The Leshan-Xichang Expressway is China's first expressway corridor extending deep into the hinterland of the Greater and Lesser Liangshan Mountains in Sichuan. Once fully completed and opened to traffic, it will completely end the history of no expressway access in Zhaojue, Meigu, Leibo and other places in Liangshan Prefecture, and will play an important role in consolidating and expanding the poverty alleviation achievements in the Liangshan Prefecture area, supporting rural revitalization, and promoting common prosperity for people of all ethnic groups.
