On May 30, it was learned from the Huangshi Highway Development Center that the public tender for general construction contracting of the Ezhou-Huangshi section tunnel project (Huangshi section) of National Highway 106 has been conducted, which means the project has met construction conditions and is about to start.

It is reported that the project starts at Baizhi Mountain at the junction of Ezhou City and Huangshi City, connecting with the proposed reconstruction (Ezhou section) of National Highway 106 from Bishi, Ezhou to Tieshan, Huangshi, and the smart highway project. The route passes beneath Baizhi Mountain in tunnel form, runs through the Daye Iron Mine mining area, shares its alignment with the planned Mulan Avenue, and ends at Pingshan Village at the intersection of the administrative boundary between the Development Zone·Tieshan District and Daye City, connecting smoothly with the planned National Highway 106 from Tieshan, Huangshi to Daye. The route length is 3.276 kilometers, with a design speed of 60 km/h, a two-way six-lane Class I highway standard (also serving urban road functions), and a subgrade width of 27 meters. The project has a planned construction period of 36 months, with an estimated contract value of approximately 710 million yuan.

According to the introduction, the Ezhou-Huangshi section tunnel project is one of the key projects for fully connecting with Ezhou Huahu International Airport and deeply advancing the coordinated development of the air cargo "virtual airport" and the international logistics core hub. It is of great significance for strengthening the connection between Huangshi and Huahu International Airport, realizing the forward extension of airport functions and seamless logistics connection, and will bring Ezhou and Huangshi closer together.
