Recently, the Huanggang Road Yellow River Crossing Tunnel Project, supervised by the Jinan Transportation Quality and Safety Center, reached another key milestone. As the core equipment of the cross-Yellow River project, the shield tunneling machine "Shanhe"—the largest-diameter shield machine under construction in the world—has begun on-site hoisting and cutterhead assembly, marking that the Huanggang Road Yellow River Crossing Tunnel Project is about to enter the critical shield tunneling construction stage.

It is understood that the supervision team reviewed the special construction plans for the assembly and disassembly of crawler cranes, the hoisting and assembly of the shield machine, and bridge-type and general-purpose cranes. At the same time, attention was paid to the freezing reinforcement plan for the shield launching end of the north bank working shaft, to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the reinforcement measures.

On the basis of strictly reviewing the construction plans, the supervision team inspected the actual progress of key construction processes at the front line, including cutterhead assembly, gantry crane assembly, and end freezing reinforcement, exercising strict control over every operation to ensure that construction steps comply with specifications and that quality is reliable. The supervision team also checked the implementation of on-site quality and safety practices by all participating units, put forward rectification opinions for issues found, and required the relevant units to rectify them immediately to ensure quality and safety during construction.

It is understood that the "Shanhe" shield machine has a maximum excavation diameter of 17.5 meters, a total length of 163 meters, a weight of about 5,200 tons, and a total installed power of 12,580 kilowatts. The shield machine is equipped with a total of 306 cutting tools of various types, of which 57 have a roller-to-tooth interchange function to optimize its performance in variable strata. In addition, the shield machine is equipped with a pressurized composite cutterhead, a telescopic main drive, and a telescopic camera in the slurry chamber, and carries an automatic cutterhead wear monitoring system, an online equipment status monitoring system, and the "five senses and one brain" intelligent equipment system, and realizes remote control through the large shield tunneling cloud smart platform to ensure tunneling safety and efficiency.
