Recently, following the completion of blasting at the left-tube entrance of the Qingyun Tunnel in the ** contract section of the Kaizhou–Yunyang Expressway (Jiangkou–Yunyang–Longgang section) PPP project, the left tube of the Qingyun Tunnel was successfully holed through.

According to reports, the Qingyun Tunnel of the Yunkai Expressway (Jiangkou–Yunyang–Longgang section) is located in Qingyun Village, Nanxi Town, Yunyang County. The tunnel is a separated small-clearance tunnel, with the right tube 1,449 m long and the left tube 1,444 m long; it is driven by single-head excavation from the exit portal toward the entrance portal.

Because of the single-head excavation, the project contractor in advance carried out the portal headwall arch and large pipe-roof works at the left-tube entrance. To ensure the tunnel was holed through on schedule, since construction reached the Grade V surrounding rock section toward the entrance, the contractor planned ahead, continuously optimized and refined the construction organization during the process, closely monitored each construction procedure and quality, and implemented systems and measures, effectively ensuring construction quality and safe progress and ensuring the left tube was holed through on schedule. It is expected that the right-tube holing-through of the Qingyun Tunnel and the pavement works will be completed by the end of June.

According to reports, the Qingyun Tunnel is a key works of the project, and the holing-through of the left tube has laid a solid foundation for the smooth opening to traffic of the Yunkai Expressway project in the first half of 2025.
