On May 27, the left tube of the Liudong Extra-Long Tunnel in Contract Section 18 of the Guiyang-Pingtang Expressway, constructed by Guizhou Road & Bridge Group, surpassed the 3,000-meter mark in excavation.

The Liudong Extra-Long Tunnel, with a total length of 4,050 meters, is a controlling project of the entire line. The area traversed by the tunnel has complex geological conditions and faces multiple construction challenges, including karst development, fractured rock masses, developed joints and fissures, poor surrounding rock stability, and large water inflow.

During construction, faced with the challenge of complex surrounding rock conditions, the Guiping Contract 18 project team consistently adhered to the construction philosophy of "Guizhou craftsmanship · Heaven-made flat terrain" and strove to build a "Five-Beauty Project," strictly following the construction principles of "advance pipe forepoling, strict grouting, short advance, weak blasting, strong support, and frequent measurement" to ensure controllable quality and safety in tunnel construction.

The project department gave full play to the guiding role of Party building by establishing a "Party Member Vanguard Team" and "Youth Safety Posts," designating "Party Member Responsibility Zones," and routinely carrying out on-site safety and quality hazard inspections. It strictly implemented tunnel construction management regulations, carefully organized construction, and intensified on-site control to ensure construction quality and safety. At present, overall construction progress of the entire tunnel has reached 74 percent.
