According to the Information Office of Chongming District, at 14:00 on May 26, after 20 consecutive hours of construction, the first section of the tower columns of main piers No. 3 and No. 4 of the Chongqi Highway-Railway Yangtze River Bridge was successfully poured and completed, marking major progress in the construction of the Chongqi Highway-Railway Yangtze River Bridge, Section V (pre-station) of the Shanghai-Nanjing section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway. The Chongqi Highway-Railway Yangtze River Bridge is a controlling node project of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway, with a total length of 4.09 kilometers, spanning the north branch channel of the Yangtze River estuary. It is a double-deck highway-railway bridge, with the upper deck carrying a six-lane first-class highway at 100 km/h and the lower deck carrying a double-track high-speed railway at 350 km/h plus a double-track intercity railway at 250 km/h. The main navigable-span bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 400 meters, featuring two towers, two cable planes, and a steel truss composite girder. It is the world's largest-span double-tower, double-cable-plane highway-railway cable-stayed bridge with ballastless track currently under construction.

The main towers No. 3 and No. 4 of the main bridge adopt the same structural layout, both being vase-shaped concrete towers composed of six parts: the tower base, lower tower column, middle tower column, upper tower column, lower cross beam, and upper cross beam. The total height of the main tower is 153 meters, and the tower columns on both sides are each poured in 27 segments, with a total concrete volume of 17,440.5 cubic meters per tower column. This time, the first section of the tower columns and the tower bases of piers No. 3 and No. 4 were poured simultaneously. Each tower base is 2.5 meters high, 22 meters long, and 18.5 meters wide; the tower column is 3 meters high, 12 meters long, and 11 meters wide, with 2,406.5 cubic meters of concrete. The plan is to complete the lower cross beam of the tower columns within the year.

As it is the golden season for construction, in order to ensure the smooth progress of the pouring work, the project department organized expert discussions on multiple occasions and formulated a concrete pouring plan, and conducted technical briefings on the concrete pouring procedures in advance. During construction, about 12 concrete mixer trucks and 4 truck-mounted concrete pumps were deployed on both the north and south banks to maintain continuous and uninterrupted concrete supply. The construction strategy of "two-point pouring, synchronous advancement, layered pouring, and level-by-level vibration" was adopted to ensure smooth construction. Since the end of March, main towers No. 3 and No. 4 have been constructed simultaneously, and the three-layer concrete pouring of the main tower pile cap area has been successfully completed in succession, advancing the construction schedule on time while ensuring construction safety and quality.

The Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway is the eastern section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and an important component of the Yangtze River corridor of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It undertakes the transport of main network passenger flows along the Yangtze River corridor and part of the through passenger flows from the coastal and Beijing-Shanghai corridors to Shanghai. Once completed, the project will establish a new rapid channel among the Shanghai metropolitan area, Nanjing metropolitan area, and Hefei metropolitan area, and is of great significance for optimizing the railway network layout in the Yangtze River region, serving the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and promoting high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
