On May 18, the foundation pit in the north section of the Lingang Comprehensive Zone Station, part of Bid Section 6 of the Shanghai Municipal Railway Nanhui Branch Line, was successfully sealed at the bottom. The project is invested in and constructed under the responsibility of Shanghai Shentie, and built by Shanghai Road & Bridge of Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd. This marks the removal of the greatest safety risk in the deep foundation pit construction of the station's north section, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent back-building of the station's main structure and shield receiving operations.

Bid Section 6's Lingang Comprehensive Zone Station is located at the intersection of planned Qiaojiang Road and Zhoutao Road in the Lingang Special Area. It is an underground two-story island-type station with a total length of 312.5 meters and a standard section width of 20.7 meters, featuring 6 entrances/exits and 2 sets of ventilation pavilions. The station's main foundation pit is divided into two construction zones, north and south, of which the north zone pit is 96.6 meters long with an excavation depth ranging from 18.8 meters to 21.2 meters.

During the foundation pit excavation, challenges such as limited working space and high requirements for pit deformation control were present. Under the overall deployment and advance organization of Shanghai Shentie, the project team strictly implemented the safety and quality management system. Through the "Smart Construction Site" operation management platform, it conducted remote real-time supervision of personnel, machinery, and materials on site throughout the entire process, providing strong guarantees for the safe and orderly progress of construction. In addition, the foundation pit excavation process was continuously adjusted and optimized, with 24-hour real-time monitoring by zone on site, strict implementation of the foundation pit excavation inspection system, and organization of on-site hazard inspections with timely rectification and closure, ensuring the safety of the station foundation pit construction.

The Nanhui Branch Line has a total length of approximately 34.86 kilometers, including a main line of about 27.88 kilometers and an east branch line of about 6.98 kilometers, with 6 stations across the entire line and a maximum train operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour. Upon completion, the project will become a rapid connection channel between the Lingang Special Area and the Pudong Hub, Hongqiao Hub, and Shanghai's main urban area. As an important support for the Lingang Special Area's radiation toward the Yangtze River Delta, it will help the Lingang Special Area realize its function as an international open hub featuring "internal-external connectivity and land-sea-air integration."
