The reporter learned yesterday from the Hefei Municipal Transport Bureau that, with the successful hoisting of the first steel box arch segment, construction on the Baihu Bridge project of the Jiangji-Huaihe Water Diversion Project (Anhui Section) — the Jiangji-Chao Lake route — has officially entered the arch rib installation phase, pressing forward toward the goal of closing the main bridge. The Baihu Bridge is an important "joint" in the water and land transport network of southern Hefei; once completed, it will be of great significance for improving cross-river travel conditions and promoting regional economic development.

It is understood that the Baihu Bridge is located within Lujiang County, spanning the Zhao River, with a total length of 4.895 kilometers and a main-line bridge length of 1,796 meters. The bridge's full steel box arch is divided into 13 segments, all fabricated off-site and welded on-site after hoisting, with the main span being a 170-meter single-span steel box tied-arch bridge. The hoisting point for this S1Z segment is located about 500 meters south of the old Baihu Bridge; the box section is 11.738 meters long, 1.8 meters wide and 2.2 meters high, with a single-piece weight of 26.1 tons. It was installed by direct lifting with a 350-ton crawler crane, and during the process the steel box arch was hoisted to a maximum rise of 41.8 meters.

To ensure the safe and precise hoisting of the first steel box arch segment into place, the project team held several technical seminars, actively optimized the construction plan, and solved the technical research challenges of constructing the main bridge of an ultra-high, ultra-narrow steel arch bridge, effectively safeguarding the transport and hoisting safety of the steel box arch.
