Today, Senior Captain Li Xi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command, stated that from May 23 to 24, the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army organized forces from the theater's army, navy, air force, and rocket force to conduct the "Joint Sword-2024A" exercise around the island of Taiwan, focusing on joint sea-air combat readiness patrols, joint seizure of comprehensive battlefield control, and joint precision strikes on key targets. Warships and aircraft conducted combat patrols close to the island of Taiwan, with integrated linkage inside and outside the island chain, to test the theater forces' joint combat capabilities. This is also a strong punishment for the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces' pursuit of "independence" and a serious warning against interference and provocation by external forces.

Starting at 7:45 today, the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army conducted joint training exercises in the Taiwan Strait and around the northern, southern, and eastern parts of the island of Taiwan, as well as around Kinmen Island, Matsu Island, Wuqiu Islet, and Dongyin Island. After the theater's joint operations command center issued action orders, multiple destroyer and frigate formations of the Eastern Theater Command Navy maneuvered at high speed in multiple directions toward the waters around the island of Taiwan, creating a posture of all-directional encirclement and close approach to the island.

After each ship arrived at its designated target sea area as planned, it quickly deployed for combat, with main and secondary guns, missiles, and other weapon systems ready for strikes at any time.

The warship formations integrated multi-source intelligence and the current sea-air situation, quickly captured and locked onto targets, and conducted simulated strikes of multiple weapon types in multi-dimensional, three-dimensional saturation attacks.

Today, the Eastern Theater Command Air Force dispatched dozens of sorties of aircraft to systematically carry out combat patrols around the island of Taiwan and cruises around the outer islands. After arriving in the mission airspace, various types of aircraft, supported by joint intelligence, flexibly adopted various tactical maneuvers and conducted combat patrols close to the island of Taiwan. Under the support and cover of the army and rocket force, multi-type aircraft formations fully loaded with live munitions flew to predetermined airspace to establish multiple strike positions, coordinating with destroyers, frigates, and missile boats to simulate strikes on "enemy" high-value military targets and reconnaissance patrol ships and aircraft.
