On May 19, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Huang Wei, Lu Chunfang, He Huawu, Qin Shunquan, Zhang Jianyun, Xie Xianqi, Gao Zongyu, Liu Jiaping, Tang Hongwu, Hu Ya'an, and several experts in the railway construction field gathered in Ma'anshan to attend the Ma'anshan Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge Construction Consultation Seminar and visited the bridge site for investigation and guidance. The event was hosted by the Ma'anshan Municipal Government and jointly organized by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute, and the National Key Laboratory of Bridge Intelligent and Green Construction. Ma'anshan Mayor Ge Bin, Vice Mayor Yi Maolin, Zhang Min, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group and National Engineering Survey and Design Master, General Manager Mao Weiqi, Chief Engineer Zhou Gongjian, Huang Yanqing, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute, and General Manager Chen Dezhu participated in the investigation and attended the meeting.

On the morning of the same day, the academicians, experts, and attending leaders visited the No. 3 and No. 4 main tower piers of the main channel navigation bridge of the Ma'anshan Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge under construction, and listened to on-site reports on the project construction progress. The delegation climbed to the top of the No. 4 main tower pier, which was about to be capped, to inspect the steel-concrete composite bridge tower of Pier No. 4 and overlook the overall construction progress of the bridge; they then ascended to the highway deck of the No. 3 pier tower to inspect the single-cantilever erection of the main bridge steel girders and the installation of stay cables.

In the afternoon, the academicians, experts, and attending leaders attended the Ma'anshan Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge Construction Consultation Seminar. Ma'anshan Mayor Ge Bin delivered a welcome speech, Vice Mayor Yi Maolin presided over the welcome meeting, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Lu Chunfang chaired the expert meeting. The meeting heard reports from the Hefei Railway Hub Project Construction Command on bridge construction management, from China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute on key design technologies of the bridge, and from China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group on key construction technologies of the bridge, and conducted consultation and discussion on the bridge construction.

The participating academicians unanimously agreed that the construction team's research and technical breakthroughs on the key construction technologies of a cable-stayed bridge with dual main spans exceeding one kilometer are correct in research direction and technical route and can further guide the project construction; that the bridge, based on green, intelligent, and full-life-cycle design and construction concepts, has systematically applied new technologies, new processes, new materials, and new equipment with obvious results and value for promotion; and that the bridge construction management is standardized, the quality is good, and safety and schedule are controllable.

At the same time, in view of the project construction situation, the participating academicians put forward important suggestions including deepening research on alignment control and closure technology for the cable-stayed bridge with dual main spans exceeding one kilometer, and promptly distilling and summarizing the technical and management achievements of the bridge construction.

The Ma'anshan Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge is a controlling project of the Chaohu-Ma'anshan Intercity Railway. It is constructed by Anhui Hema High-Speed Railway Co., Ltd., designed by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute, and built with the participation of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group. The bridge has a total length of 9.799 kilometers and consists of the Hexian-side approach bridge, the main channel navigation bridge, the Jiangxinzhou approach bridge, the secondary channel main bridge, and the Dangtu-side approach bridge. The main channel navigation bridge adopts a three-tower steel truss cable-stayed bridge with main spans of (2×1120) meters and a total length of 3,248 meters. It is the world's first three-tower cable-stayed bridge with dual main spans exceeding one kilometer, the world's largest-span three-tower cable-stayed bridge, and also the world's longest continuous steel truss cable-stayed bridge. The bridge construction project is large in scale and high in technological content, has successfully applied multiple "four new" technologies, and has set six world records, representing the advanced technical level of Chinese bridge engineering.

The bridge is a landmark building of Ma'anshan City and Anhui Province and a new corridor from Anhui to the Yangtze River Delta region. The gathering of 10 academicians and several experts in the railway construction field in Ma'anshan for investigation and guidance has added stronger momentum to promoting the fast and high-quality construction of the Ma'anshan Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge, showcasing the scientific and technological innovation achievements of the bridge construction, and creating a shining名片 for Ma'anshan City and Anhui Province.

The newly built Chaohu-Ma'anshan Intercity Railway is an important component of the Hefei-Shanghai section of the Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu rapid corridor within the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network, and is an important passenger dedicated line for undertaking industrial transfer from the core area of the Yangtze River Delta. It starts at Chaohu East Station, runs eastward through Hanshan County, Hexian County, Zhengpugang New Area, Dangtu County, the Economic Development Zone, Yushan District, and Huashan District, and then leads into Ma'anshan East Station, with a main line length of 61 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Along the line, there are five stations in total: Chaohu East (existing), Hanshan, Zhengpugang, Ma'anshan South, and Ma'anshan East (existing). It connects to the Hefei-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway to the north and the Nanjing-Anqing Passenger Dedicated Line to the east. After completion, the project will establish a new rapid corridor on both banks of the Wanjiang River, which is of great significance for further shortening the space-time distance between the Hefei metropolitan area and the Nanjing metropolitan area, improving the regional high-speed rail network, and supporting the implementation of national strategies such as the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
