On May 19, with 17 consecutive truckloads totaling 163 cubic meters of concrete poured, the junction section of the main tower of the Heishanxia Yellow River Grand Bridge on the Zhongwei–Mengjiawan Highway (National Highway 338), a key transportation project of the autonomous region's 14th Five-Year Plan, was successfully closed. Its closure and completion of pouring will make the main tower structure more stable and safe, laying the foundation for the smooth implementation of the upper tower column and a solid foundation for achieving full-bridge closure within the year.

The junction section of the main tower of the Heishanxia Yellow River Grand Bridge on the Zhongwei–Mengjiawan Highway (National Highway 338) has been closed.
The Zhongwei–Mengjiawan section of National Highway 338 is located in Shapotou District, Zhongwei City, and is a national highway reconstruction and expansion project. The route starts south of Changle Town in Zhongwei City on the south side of the Dingwu Expressway, connecting to the endpoint of the Zhongning–Zhongwei section of National Highway 338, with a total length of 15.45 kilometers. The Heishanxia Yellow River Grand Bridge has a total length of 1,539 meters, of which the main bridge is a twin-tower, twin-cable steel-concrete composite girder cable-stayed bridge spanning the Yellow River. It is currently the Yellow River highway bridge with the highest tower height and the most complex technical difficulty in the Ningxia section, and is also the controlling project of the Zhongwei–Mengjiawan section of National Highway 338.

The Heishanxia Yellow River Grand Bridge is currently the Yellow River highway bridge with the highest tower height and the most complex technical difficulty in the Ningxia section.
According to reports, since the start of construction of the Heishanxia Yellow River Grand Bridge, the Ningxia Highway Management Center has kept safety at the forefront, deepening team safety construction through zoned responsibility and grid-based management. During the construction of the Shapotou Yellow River bridge piers, thick cobble layers were encountered, and hard sand layers also existed beneath the riverbed. To overcome these difficulties, the builders adopted six advanced and complex pieces of equipment and techniques: high-power rotary drilling rigs, large-depth foundation pit steel cofferdams, mass concrete temperature control, complex variable cross-section hydraulic climbing formwork systems, large-tonnage tower cranes, and cable-stayed bridge steel girder completion alignment monitoring.
At present, pile foundation construction for both the main bridge and approach bridges of the Heishanxia Bridge has been fully completed, and girder and slab installation has begun on some approach bridges.
Ma Fei, an engineer at the Ningxia Highway Management Center, introduced that pile foundation construction for both the main bridge and approach bridges of the Heishanxia Bridge has been fully completed, and girder and slab installation has begun on some approach bridges. Once completed, the Heishanxia Yellow River Bridge will effectively ease traffic pressure on the Zhongwei–Mengjiawan section of National Highway 338 and become a new artery for benefiting the people and boosting industry in Zhongwei City. At present, the Zhongwei–Mengjiawan section of National Highway 338 project has completed a cumulative investment of 630 million yuan.
