On May 18, the shield machine for the right line of the Xiaonan Street Station–Wenweng Shishi Station section of the civil works Section 4 project of Chengdu Rail Transit Line 13, undertaken by Chengtong Company of China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group, was successfully launched, and the project's construction and production entered the "fast lane."

The right line of the Xiaonan Street Station–Wenweng Shishi Station section has a total length of 468.148 m, with a line spacing of 17–18 m, a minimum horizontal curve radius of 400 m, a maximum longitudinal gradient of 24.318‰, and a tunnel crown burial depth of 14.36 m–25.5 m. The geology mainly underlying the section consists of dense cobbles, strongly weathered mudstone, and moderately weathered mudstone. The right line runs for a long distance adjacent to the river, with a minimum horizontal clear distance of about 1.8 m between the South River embankment and the section tunnel; in addition, a DN1000 water supply pipe laid along the line directly above the tunnel, made of steel pipe and bell-and-spigot concrete pipe, entails extremely high construction risk.

To ensure the smooth launch and driving of the shield machine and its safe crossing beneath the 220 kV power cable duct and the DN1000 water supply pipe, the project department made meticulous arrangements, reviewed the various risks of shield driving in advance, held a special meeting on risk response measures and handling, organized emergency drills, and, by summarizing the driving parameter control of the section's left line, formulated targeted and robust technical measures, conducted expert review of the plans for super-scale hazardous major works in advance, and successfully passed the three-level on-site safety condition acceptance.
