Beijing, May 21 (Report) — The prosperity and development of cyberspace have enabled ordinary people from all walks of life to showcase their brilliance on the internet.

To cultivate a positive, healthy, and uplifting online culture and make this shared spiritual home of humanity more beautiful, cleaner, and safer, we need to strengthen the mainstream public opinion front online, so that positive energy generates massive traffic and good voices become the strongest voices.

In March this year, the final selection results of the 2023 China Positive Energy Online Excellent Works Collection and Exhibition Campaign, hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China, were announced. After preliminary selection, expert review and deliberation, online exhibition and voting, final selection, and public announcement of results, 550 outstanding online works stood out.

These positive-energy online works are imbued with an "online flavor" and "online feel." While conveying positive energy, they also turn their pens toward the "keyboard warriors" and "traffic obsession" in cyberspace.

Through these positive-energy online works, we understand that every keystroke should carry goodwill and treat others with sincerity.

In cyberspace, no one is a bystander. Today, information spreads very quickly online. A piece of information or a single sentence may greatly boost someone's confidence, but it may also hurt others. Among the award-winning works, some people recall that during difficult times, many unknown netizens offered them positive encouragement, helping them regain confidence. Everyone should keep in mind that "a kind word warms for three winters, while harsh words chill even in June."

Through these positive-energy online works, we understand that if influencers want to stay popular for the long term, the "traffic obsession" must end.

In an era of traffic where "anyone can become an influencer," hundreds of millions of streamers form a massive pool of content production. To stay "popular for the long term," influencers must be wary of short-term behavior that kills the goose that lays the golden eggs—unprincipled hype in pursuit of traffic. The belief that only traffic matters is not real traffic. Only by winning attention with high-quality content can one truly be "popular."

Through these positive-energy online works, we have learned that cyberspace is not a place outside the law, and strengthening cyberspace governance is essential.

China's 1.092 billion internet users have formed the world's largest and most vibrant digital society. But this is by no means a private space where one can act arbitrarily.

In recent years, a series of actions to consistently promote new trends and positive conduct and purify the online ecosystem have stirred the internet with the power of positivity and uplift, and stories of positive energy keep emerging.

These positive-energy online works also let people know that every post, every click, and every comment carries responsibility and commitment. Only when everyone jointly upholds the bottom line can we protect our shared spiritual home and make cyberspace ever more abundant in positive energy.
