According to the standard formulation and revision plan of the China Highway and Transportation Society (CHTS), the CHTS standard "Technical Specifications for Design and Construction of Highway Tunnels Crossing Active Fault Zones," jointly edited by CCCC Second Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. and the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has completed its draft for public comment (Attachment 1). In accordance with the requirements of the "Administrative Measures for CHTS Standards (Trial)" and the "Guidelines for the Management of Formulation and Revision of CHTS Standards (Trial)," public comments are now being solicited. All units and individuals are kindly requested to respond actively and provide feedback voluntarily.

The "Comment Feedback Form" (Attachment 2) must be submitted to the contact person by June 11, 2024. If no reply is received by the deadline, it will be deemed that there are no objections. Representatives of units and individuals who submit high-quality comments will be invited as experts to attend the review meeting for the draft submitted for approval.

Preparation process and introduction: The "Technical Specifications for Design and Construction of Highway Tunnels Crossing Active Fault Zones" was initiated in January 2023 and passed the outline review in March. This specification sets out provisions on the investigation, materials, design, construction, auxiliary works, and structural safety monitoring of highway tunnels crossing active fault zones. It applies to the construction of new, reconstruction, and expansion projects of highway tunnels crossing active fault zones, primarily excavated by the drill-and-blast method.
