On May 14, with the sound of the final blast, the Liumianshan Tunnel of the Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway was successfully holed through. This is also the first medium-to-long tunnel of over 1,000 meters to be completed on the Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway. To date, 63% of the total tunnel works along the entire line have been completed.

The Liumianshan Tunnel is located in Zhushan Village, Liujiang District, Liuzhou City, Guangxi. It is a single-tube, double-track tunnel with a total length of 2,865 meters, and is a relatively rare water-rich karst geological tunnel on the line.

The main line of the Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway has a total length of 238.167 kilometers. Starting from Jinde Station on the Hunan-Guangxi Railway, the line passes through the four cities of Liuzhou, Laibin, Guigang and Wuzhou, and connects to Wuzhou Station on the Yizhan Railway. The line has 10 stations in total and is a national Class I double-track railway for both passenger and freight traffic, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

The line has a total of 54 tunnels, of which 21 are over 1,000 meters long.

It is understood that the Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway is an important component of the Liuzhou-Guangzhou Railway. The Liuzhou-Guangzhou Railway is a major engineering project identified in the Outline of the National 14th Five-Year Plan. It is an important conventional-speed railway corridor from Southwest China to the Pearl River Delta in the national Medium- and Long-Term Railway Network Plan, and is also a regional trunk railway accommodating both passenger and freight traffic. Construction of the entire line began on December 1, 2022, and is scheduled for completion in 2026.

After the line is completed and opened to traffic, it will be of great significance and play an important role in improving the regional railway transportation network, accelerating the construction of a major cross-regional railway transportation corridor, and promoting better integration of central and eastern Guangxi into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
