Recently, as a rail transit line that strengthens the comprehensive transportation hub function of Wuhan Railway Station, the first phase of the Metro Xingang Line has achieved a new breakthrough: the first shield tunneling machine completed excavation of the right-line section from Wuhan Railway Station to Tiepuling Station and successfully emerged from the tunnel.

The first phase of the Xingang Line starts at Beiyangqiao Station in the Yangchunhu area, passes through Wuhan Railway Station, and ends at Baiyushan Station. The line is about 10.9 kilometers long and has 5 underground stations. At present, a total of 6 shield tunneling machines are working hard underground along the entire line.

Cheng Jiawei, owner representative of Wuhan Metro Co., Ltd., introduced that the section from Wuhan Railway Station to Tiepuling Station is different from other ordinary sections. This section is divided into three parts for construction, including the shield tunneling section, the open-cut section, and the reserved section previously built together with Wuhan Railway Station. The receiving point of the first shield tunneling machine is located exactly at the connection between the open-cut section and the shield tunneling section. At the site, the shield tunneling machine, more than 6 meters high, had safely emerged from the tunnel. At the other end, more than 20 construction workers were working in the open-cut section. "The shield tunneling section is about 1 kilometer long. Shortly after starting, it crosses the Third Ring Road. The procedures are complex, and the quality and safety standards are high," said Jiang Meng, project manager of the construction party Hanyang Municipal. The open-cut section is about 300 meters long. After excavation is completed, the tunnel will be built by cast-in-place concrete. Subsequently, following the metro construction workers to the starting point of the shield tunneling section, this is a shield shaft located several hundred meters away from Wuhan Railway Station.
