Beijing, May 14 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin presided over a regular press conference on May 14.

　　In response to reports that the United States and Taiwan held joint exercises in the Pacific last month, Wang Wenbin said: I have noted reports that vessels from the United States and the Taiwan region "accidentally encountered" each other. I must point out that China's position of opposing military ties between the United States and Taiwan is consistent and clear.

　　We urge the United States to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-US joint communiqués, and to stop its erroneous practice of military collusion with Taiwan. We also solemnly warn the DPP authorities that "seeking independence by force" and "resisting reunification by force" are dead ends and are doomed to fail, and there will be no surprises on this point.
