According to the Pudong New Area Information Office, the first work zone of the Shanghai East Station at the Oriental Hub has recently completed the pouring of five base slabs, each 1 to 5 meters thick, on both sides of Line 21 in ** phase. The project has now officially entered its second phase—retreat excavation of the rapid transit line to the north and west, with base slab construction carried out concurrently. See details ↓

The Shanghai East Station project is located in Zhuqiao Town, Pudong New Area, with a total floor area of 1.387 million square meters, including a 160,000-square-meter high-speed railway station building. The main underground structure works mainly include the foundation pits, foundations and main structures of the Shanghai East Station building, the air-rail intermodal module, the underground portions of the urban atrium and corridors, the underground parking lot and equipment rooms, the underpass municipal road (Zhandong Road), the concurrently implemented reserved rapid transit works, the reserved air-rail logistics works, and the reserved works for future line connections.

The scope of the first work zone of the Shanghai East Station at the Oriental Hub covers the area west of the rapid transit line (excluding the rapid transit line) in the station yard area, with a foundation pit area of 85,400 square meters and a floor area of 170,600 square meters. The main work includes earthwork, dewatering, support construction, as well as underground structures, waterproofing and insulation, and coordination with MEP embedded works. Since the first two base slabs in the initial launch sub-zone were poured on both sides of Line 21 in the first work zone of Shanghai East Station on April 8, a total of three pours have been carried out, with cumulative concrete volume of approximately 17,500 cubic meters.

In the future, the Shanghai East Station at the Oriental Hub will form a comprehensive transportation hub together with Shanghai Pudong International Airport through national railways, municipal railways, and urban rail transit, undertake important functions of the national coastal corridor, lead and support urban development in the areas surrounding the hub, and serve to advance the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
