The theme of this year's National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day is "Everyone talks about safety, everyone knows emergency response — striving to improve basic disaster prevention and risk avoidance capabilities." These publicity activities aim to further expand the coverage of publicity and education on disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief, and to enhance grassroots disaster prevention and risk avoidance capabilities. The activities were carried out in a combined offline and online format of "one main venue + multiple sub-venues."

At the main venue at Huacheng Square in Guangzhou, the publicity activities attracted a large number of residents to visit and experience. Among them, the main stage area used disaster prevention and mitigation scenario dramas to simulate emergency rescue scenes for sudden incidents and to popularize grassroots disaster response knowledge; the consultation area and experience area focused on responses to earthquakes, floods and droughts, meteorological disasters, and other hazards, and, in conjunction with traffic safety, fire safety, emergency first aid, and other fields, guided residents to learn disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge and enhanced citizens' awareness of disaster risk prevention.

At the same time, various sub-venues also held distinctive activities to encourage residents in various localities to participate. Among them, the Liwan District sub-venue simulated a geological disaster caused by continuous heavy rainfall and introduced high-tech means to carry out practical emergency rescue drills.

In addition, the science popularization activities aim to make schools and families safer. At the event site, six major areas were set up, including exhibition board displays, themed booths, science popularization lectures, emergency drills, emergency vehicle displays, and interactive games. Through campus scenario drama performances, on-site interaction, online quizzes, and other forms, college students and residents learned health emergency knowledge such as AED use, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the Heimlich maneuver.

A relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission said that it is hoped that young students will earnestly learn health emergency knowledge and skills and bring what they have learned back to their families and to society, so as to save as many lives as possible and reduce disability when sudden incidents occur.
