Recently, construction sites of major transportation and water conservancy projects across Guangxi have presented a bustling scene of intense activity, involving cities such as Nanning, Yulin, Baise, Qinzhou, and Beihai, and including major projects such as the Guangxi section of the Huangbai Railway and the Pinglu Canal.
Tunnel works on the Guangxi section of the Huangbai Railway fully enter the construction phase
On May 7, in Lingyun County, Baise City, Guangxi, tunneling began on the Nafu Tunnel of the Huangtong-to-Baise Railway (Huangbai Railway), the first extra-large tunnel to start construction along the entire line, marking that tunnel works on the Guangxi section of the Huangbai Railway have fully entered the construction phase. The Guangxi section of the Huangbai Railway will see 33 new tunnels with a total length of 109.735 kilometers and 33 new bridges with a total length of 15.974 kilometers, with a bridge-tunnel ratio as high as 90.6%, the highest among railways in Guangxi at present.
With a total length of about 315 kilometers, a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour, and a construction period of 5 years, the Huangbai Railway is a landmark project of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor and the main corridor of the western railway line. Once completed, the project will become the freight trunk corridor with the shortest transport distance, the best efficiency, and the shortest running time from Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, and Guangxi to Beibu Gulf Port, and is of great significance for further improving the regional railway network layout and promoting regional economic and social development.
Pinglu Canal completes 5.09 billion yuan of image investment in the first quarter
Recently, the roof slab of the water conveyance gallery of the 8# bottom slab of the left lock chamber of the Qishi Hub ship lock of the Pinglu Canal was successfully capped. This is the first roof slab of a ship lock chamber bottom slab water conveyance gallery to be capped in the Pinglu Canal hub project, laying the foundation for the subsequent construction of the intermediate piers of the ship lock at the Qishi Hub.
According to statistics, the Pinglu Canal completed 5.09 billion yuan of image investment in the first quarter of 2024 and about 37 million cubic meters of earth and rock excavation, exceeding the first-quarter task target and achieving a good start in the first quarter.
On August 28, 2022, the Pinglu Canal officially started construction, with a construction period of 52 months and a total investment of 72.72 billion yuan. The main body is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. The waterway is Class I inland waterway, navigable by 5,000-ton vessels. Once the canal is completed and water flows through, the 134.2-kilometer Pinglu Canal will run from Pingtang Jiangkou in the Xijin Reservoir Area of Hengzhou City, Nanning, through Lubu Town, Lingshan County, Qinzhou City, along the Qinjiang River into the Beibu Gulf. Upon completion, the Pinglu Canal will become the sea-access water transport channel with the shortest distance, the most economical cost, and the greatest convenience for inland Guangxi and the southwestern region of China.
2.26 million people to benefit! Construction of this major project in Yulin "accelerates"
As a major national water conservancy project, the Longyun Irrigation District Project in Yulin City is currently making every effort to accelerate construction progress. At present, at the main construction site of the Longyun Irrigation District Project in Panlong Village, Tang'an Town, Beiliu City, the concrete structure of the dam main body has been fully completed, and construction has entered the stage of the metal structure of the gates. The sluice gate, the left-bank gravity dam, the stilling basin, and the upstream and downstream bank protection works are beginning to take shape.
The Longyun Irrigation District Project is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects deployed and implemented by the State Council and one of the key projects of the national 14th Five-Year Plan. It is planned to have a total irrigation area of 514,000 mu, with a total investment of 5.278 billion yuan. The project fully started construction in August 2022. The Longyun Irrigation District Project involves Beiliu City, Yuzhou District, Luchuan County, and Fumian District. Once completed, the project can increase the utilization of water resources by an average of 360 million cubic meters per year; improve, add, and restore 514,000 mu of irrigation area, driving an average annual increase in grain output of more than 30,000 tons; and expand the population benefiting from water supply, with an average annual water supply of 361 million cubic meters benefiting 2.26 million people.
Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway strives to achieve the goal of opening to traffic this year
On the Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway, 150 people from the project department of China Railway 25th Bureau Group are busy laying tracks. During the May Day holiday, all workers of the project department stayed at their posts.
According to the Nanning-Yulin Railway Project Command of China Railway 25th Bureau Group, the Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway has completed 302 kilometers of track laying, accounting for 76% of the total laying volume, with 91 kilometers of track remaining. To achieve the goal of opening to traffic within this year, track laying must be completed in May.
At present, the decoration and renovation of the five newly built station buildings on the Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway are nearly 80% complete, and the overall progress of the "four-electric" part of the post-station works has also reached 79%. The Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway is the first high-speed railway in Guangxi with an independently invested design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, with a main line length of 193.31 kilometers. After completion and opening to traffic, the railway travel time from Nanning to Yulin will be reduced from the current fastest 1 hour and 44 minutes to 50 minutes.
Beibu Gulf Rim Guangxi Water Resources Allocation Project accelerates
The Beibu Gulf Rim Guangxi Water Resources Allocation Project is the main framework and major artery of Guangxi's water network and one of the 150 major water conservancy construction projects of the state in 2020 and thereafter. The project is divided into four water supply areas: Nanning, Qinzhou, Beihai, and Yulin, with a total water conveyance line length of 491.1 kilometers.
Today, construction of the Beibu Gulf Rim Guangxi Project is "in full bloom" in many places such as Qinzhou, Binyang, and Hepu. The construction units are working hard and fast, striving to start construction of all 6 water conveyance trunk lines and 12 water conveyance branch lines by June this year, and striving to complete an annual estimated investment of more than 5 billion yuan.
The Qinzhou water supply area of the Beibu Gulf Rim Guangxi Water Resources Allocation Project has progressed smoothly since construction started in September last year. The Qinzhou water supply area consists of the Qinzhou trunk line and the Qinzhou urban branch line, with a total estimated investment of about 1.934 billion yuan and a total construction period of 28 months. It undertakes the water conveyance task of serving as the second water source for Qinzhou urban area while also serving as an emergency backup water source. After the project is completed, it can guarantee emergency water supply for the living and industrial needs of about 700,000 people in Qinzhou urban area when water supply is interrupted by sudden accidents in the Qinjiang River during the construction period of the Pinglu Canal, and after the Pinglu Canal opens, it will provide clean and safe water for the future development of the urban area, ensuring water supply security for the near- and long-term development of Qinzhou urban area.
